A year after that Whole Foods, the American chain of stores for chic and wealthy people who consume only organic foods where everything from vegetables crammed into endless shelves to hormone-free meat is damn expensive, has announced a new model of supermarket, within the reach of less capacious pockets, has opened yesterday in Silver Lake, a good neighborhood in Los Angeles, the first 365 by Whole Foods.
Another 19 will follow in the next two years.
There are dozens of interesting models in the world of large-scale distribution, so why all this waiting for the new Whole Foods supermarket model?
Many think that 365 could be a panacea for the American chain, which has been in trouble for a couple of years now due to a collapse in sales. There is also curiosity to understand if the new format will be able to influence the world of distribution as Whole Foods did during the 1990s and 2000s (ask Oscar Farinetti of Eataly for references).
Let's take a preview look at the huge spaces that make the store more like an airport hangar than a classic supermarket.

365 is proposed as a streamlined version of the original where among the shelves, salad bars and refrigerated counters the aficionados of the chain find the now famous certified organic, as well as dry products and canned goods with the house brand.
The space of the food & beverage department has been expanded: popular beer and snacks conquer all their shelves, there is also a scanner to read wine labels, so as to buy more consciously, and even a TeaBot, the device that creates perfect tea blends.

The offer is completed by a café where you can stop and chat while drinking a beer between one shopping and the next. ç opening hours are from 8 am to 10 pm.
Now that the most is done let's say it clearly to Oscar Farinetti that we want a light and cheaper version of Eataly.
