From the wall of jars you are looking at in the photo, you can imagine the ambition of today's test. An extensive tasting test of plain yogurt which includes the categories of whole and lean.
A tasty love story between us Italians and fermented milk due to the action of bacilli, full of well-known and loved brands, to which the branded products of large distribution chains have been added.
There was no lack of surprises in the test reserved for non-flavored but no spoilers.

The test was carried out blindly and the yoghurts were tested at refrigerator temperature.
Low-fat white yogurt
# 7 Rome's milk center

This product is distinguished mainly by the use of sugar. An unfortunate choice because from the first taste the sweetness predominates without being balanced by acidity. Too bad for the good creaminess but in the long run the flavor is cloying.
Price: 6, 30 € per kg
# 6 Coop

The consistency tending to liquid is negatively striking, so much so that it almost looks like drinking yoghurt. The acidity is average but the slightly weak taste is perplexing.
Price: € 2, 88 per kg
# 5 Carrefour

The Carrefour product is also quite liquid but manages to maintain a sufficient consistency. There is a good harmony between the flavors but it lacks flavor and is a bit dull.
Price: € 3, 40 per kg
# 4 Activia (Danone)

Finally a nose present enough to be noticed. We are also interested in creaminess but the below average acidity and a suspected residual sugar are not fully convincing. In summary, it is too much a yogurt.
Price: 5, 78 € per kg
# 3 Brunico dairy

It is distinguished from the others by the color that tends to yellow. Maybe a little liquid but is immediately forgiven for the excellent scent of milk. Correct acidity and harmonious flavor. A great product without the final flicker.
Price: € 4, 80 per kg
# 2 Vipiteno dairy

This yogurt stands out immediately for its particular consistency which is not uniform and grainy. The flavor is rich in nuances and also satisfies us the good persistence. A balanced and very successful product.
Price: € 4, 32 per kg
# 1 Pam & Panorama

Pearl white color and pleasant milk scent. A prodigious acidity but well integrated into a complex flavor with a surprising aftertaste. These are the characteristics of the winning yogurt. Perhaps not the most balanced but the one with the most personality. Congratulations to Pam & Panorama which for this line of yogurt has chosen milk from organic farms.
Price: € 4, 80 per kg
Whole white yogurt

# 7 Rome's milk center

In interpretations of whole yoghurt there is often a tendency to increase the sugar residue. Unfortunately, even in this case, the sugar is really too much and unbalanced with respect to acidity. Counting the greater caloric contribution of a whole yogurt, the result is an immediate sense of satiety after a few teaspoons.
Price: 5, 78 € per kg
# 6 Granarolo

Granarolo also chooses to produce a sweet whole yogurt. The creaminess is excellent and this time the sweetness invades less. The taste as a whole leaves some doubt where we perceive a dominant note of vanilla that distorts the product.
Price: € 3, 20 per kg
# 5 Muller

The least sugary of the three sweet whole yogurts. Excellent creaminess, each component is well proportioned but in the long run it does not excite. Small disappointment.
Price: 4, 10 € per kg
# 4 Activia (Danone)

The least convincing of the sugar-free versions. Absent aromas, too tenuous sapidity and a strange bitter aftertaste deliver a product without a bite.
Price: 6, 16 € per kg
# 3 Carrefour

Carrefour redeems itself in this test with a convincing product. The consistency is dense to the right point and the acidity well dosed. We really like this simple taste without too much manipulation.
Price: 3, 50 € per kg
# 2 Coop

Coop also takes a big leap forward after the previous test. The result is a thick and fragrant yogurt that, without any tricks, proudly displays its natural acidity. The feeling is that of eating a rustic and well made product.
Price: € 3, 36 per kg
# 1 Pam & Panorama

To our great surprise, Pam also wins this test and with a real plebiscite. A product that greatly detaches its opponents and impresses with its great personality.
The milk scent is very intense and also the color appears different from usual because it tends to yellow. Conquer the complexity of flavors that blend perfectly together with a very lively acidity. Long persistence.
Price: € 4, 80 per kg
THINGS WE HAVE LEARNED

In recent years, large-scale distribution companies have improved the level of their products, this test clarifies this without fear of denial.
It seems incredible but even today the list of ingredients does not appear on all labels. It is true, Italian law does not provide for an obligation on white yoghurts, but it really seems like a minimum requirement.
Despite having rightly lost their reputation as a dietetic product, all the yoghurts in the test proved to be low in calories. In a few cases it exceeds 100 calories.
In the judgment we took into account above all two factors, the flavor, always decisive for us crapuloni of Dissapore and the richness of enzymes.
