It is estimated that around 500,000 travelers a day will be able to use free wi-fi in the Autogrill service areas along the Italian motorway network thanks to the TIM connection.
According to initial advances, the service will be available as early as this month of July, at least in the first 100 points of sale located on the motorways most frequented by vacationers: Autostrada del Sole, Salerno-Reggio Calabria, A14 adriatica, Autostrada del Brennero, Autostrada dei Fiori and Milan. -Lakes.
Starting in particular from the main Autogrill premises such as Chianti, the service area on the A1 with the large circular fireplace positioned in the center of the room; Secchia Ovest, near Modena, where the first "Eataly per Autogrill" has just been inaugurated, and the Bistrot in Fiorenzuola d’Arda (Piacenza) which already offers points to recharge the batteries of smartphones and tablets for ordering.
The service will be extended within the year to all approximately 350 parking areas.
The initiative's technological partner is Cisco, which has provided over 600 access points.
Access to the service will take place through an authentication portal with registration required only the first time. After September, the MyAutogrill app will be available, which will help the integrated management of Autogrill and wi-fi services, for example shorter payment times with less use of cash at the checkout.
