The fashion of artisanal gin infects everyone.
Even the chefs.
And how could he be exempt Carlo Cracco, chef at the peak of media popularity, and, as such, particularly sensitive to all things fashion?
From the end of October, a special gin created in collaboration with Filippo Sisti, the highly regarded mixologist of the Milanese bistro Carlo and Camilla in Segheria, will be available in a limited edition.
Only a thousand, carefully selected bottles of Portobello Road Gin distilled by the English: a precious bottle, silk-screened, with the Italian flag and signed by Carlo Cracco.

But how is such a project born?
In reality, in the simplest of ways: the master distiller of Portobello Road Gin, aka Jake Burger, is literally struck by a visit to the Milanese restaurant in Cracco.
The cocktail combination of Sisti da Carlo and Camilla in Segheria + Cracco's metropolitan cuisine fascinates him so much that he suggests he recruit the two for the distillery projects, known for using well-known faces from the world of cooking and television as testimonials.
Before Cracco, Brett Graham: 2 Michelin stars for Ledbury restaurant, Notting Hill, London. It was with him that the Local Heroes project began: carefully selecting the botanicals - blends of herbs, spices and aromas - to be included in the London Dry Gin, whose basic aromas are juniper berries, coriander, angelica and iris, in order to make it unique and unmistakable.
In the "alcoholic" triumvirate between Cracco, Sisti and Burger, for the new Local Heroes the choice fell on dried and then rehydrated mango, roasted mango skin, shiso, dill, bergamot and timut pepper which, as Sisti tells us, is a pepper from China's Sichuan province with a grapefruit flavor.

For Cracco, in reality, gin is a return to the past. Rafa Garcia Santos, famous Basque chef and initiator of the gin fashion in starred restaurants, served it at the end of the meal.
The choice of mango seems to have been studied for female palates, thanks to its soft and round taste.
The bottles of Portobello Dry Gin Local Heroes will be available on the shelves of the Carlo e Camilla in Segheria starting from the last week of October, for 40 euros per piece.

James Bond's Gin Tonic on a mission to the Navigli? It is called Gin Grass

Had he gone on a mission to Milan instead of Jamaica, he probably would have drunk it like that.
