Lidl: the decision you don't expect.

The German hard discount chain, well-branched in Italy and very popular for affordable prices, has just put “light marijuana” on sale. As Il Salvagente points out, the packs are on sale next to cigarettes and cigars at the checkout counters.

The average cost for a 1.5 gram box, obtained from plants grown outdoors in Switzerland, is 17.99 francs, plus or minus 15 euros, while the 3 gram package costs 19.99 francs, almost 17. euro, with the difference of being composed of flowers grown in greenhouses.

Lidl informs that marijuana is supplied by a Swiss company called The Botanicals, specialized in sustainable agriculture, which does not involve the use of "chemical, synthetic or genetically modified substances". The plants are grown in semi-automated greenhouses and specially designed internal structures.

But what are we talking about when we talk about "soft marijuana"?

First, the products for sale by Lidl, only for people over the age of 18, are not made to be psychotropic but to provide a relaxing and anti-inflammatory effect.

The type of marijuana sold in Switzerland contains a minimum amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive ingredient of the plant, equal to or less than 1%. Instead, the quantity allowed in the marijuana arriving in the chain's Italian discount stores is 0.2%.

This is probably because, in Italy, despite the rules are not exactly clear, marijuana to be legal can contain THC up to a maximum of 0.6%.

Note the difference between the selling price charged by Lidl compared to the shops in which the "marijuana" is already on sale, which have price lists above 20 euros per gram.
