Apparently during the lockdown the home orders of ice cream I'm grown up by + 350%, with pistachio, stracciatella and hazelnut among the favorite flavors of Italians. To say this are the data released by Deliveroo and obtained thanks to the new project of the Gelato-Delivery Observatory.

Together with Sistema Gelato (strategic consultancy operator in the ice cream supply chain), Deliveroo has pitted a series of data relating to the ice cream market. It was thus seen that during the lockdown the Italians made 350% more than home orders (one would say "Of course" since ice cream shops and clubs were closed and people preferred in most cases to avoid going out and having food brought home), with an increase from May 2020 compared to May 2019 of + 215%.

THE tastes Italian favorites are pistachio, stracciatella and hazelnut, while the cities that ordered the most ice cream were:

  1. Milan
  2. Rome
  3. Ferrara

It also seems that Italians prefer to eat the ice cream as a snack or as a dessert after dinner since the orders were concentrated after 2 pm with a peak at 4 pm and, subsequently, at 9 pm, when the maximum number of orders is reached. On the other hand, the time slot from 12 to 14 is snubbed. Predictably, however, the days in which you order the most ice cream are those of the weekend.

On the other hand, there is now a 20% drop in ice cream consumption due to the absence of tourists.
