The chain of pizzerias Pizza Hut confirmed a list of 29 restaurants that will close in England, with a loss of around 450 jobs.
The closure of these restaurants is part of a bailout agreement for the company, which is not sailing in good waters also due to the lockdown period. In anticipation, in the future of the chain, there is the closure of about 10% of its 244 British restaurants.
The main UK subsidiary of the US-owned company is also looking to cut rents by asking owners to base payment claims on each store's turnover.
"We are doing everything we can to redeploy our team members from our Pizza Hut restaurants who are at the highest risk of closure and minimize the impact on our workforce," said Pizza Hut Restaurants spokespersons. As a result, it is not possible to confirm the exact number of job losses in each restaurant at the moment.
โWe understand this is a difficult time for everyone involved and are supporting our team members as much as possible during this transition,โ they added from the chain.
The problem - claims the Guardian - is not attributable only to the Coronavirus and the consequent economic crisis: "Restaurants specialized in pizza and pasta were already under pressure before the Coronavirus pandemic, due to excessive expansion that led to the saturation of the market".
