The chairman of the board Giuseppe Conte he signed the new one in the night DPCM, and confirmation of the closing at 18 for bars and restaurants.
The Regions therefore failed to win the tug-of-war with the government to snatch a few more hours of opening in the evening: in this way - it must be said - many restaurant businesses really risk not being able to recover from the crisis, because - with lunches practically zeroed for months, thanks to smartworking - preventing dinner is equivalent to forcing the shutters to be lowered.
Not to mention the starred restaurants, which practically live on the dinner experience, and this is confirmed by the fact that many are not even open for lunch service. But anyway, the government has also decided this among the solutions to stem the spread of the Coronavirus, which in recent weeks has been worrying politicians and scientists a lot. For bars and restaurants, the permitted opening is therefore from 5 to 18, with a limit of four people allowed at the table.
A small satisfaction (if it can be defined as such) for restaurateurs and bartenders concerns the possibility of staying open even on weekends: at first there was talk of a closure on holidays but the Technical Scientific Committee seems to have argued that the premises, on weekends, they can be a useful alternative for limiting family reunions. The new Prime Ministerial Decree signed by Conte will come into force on Monday 26 October and will remain valid (for now) until next 24 November.
