Pizzeria Falcone e Borsellino: the restaurant in Frankfurt changes its name

In the end, memory prevailed (and fortunately): the Falcone e Borsellino pizzeria from Frankfurt will change name. The owners of the restaurant, who ended up at the center of the controversy for having given the name of the two magistrates who symbolize the fight against the mafias, took a step back, despite the German court having agreed with them.

According to the German judges, the names of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino are known only in Italy and "only to a small circle of professionals and not to ordinary people who frequent the pizzeria".

So the court had more or less responded to the request for protection of Professor Maria Falcone, who had denounced the violation of the memory of her brother and his anti-mafia colleague.

Fortunately, however, the managers realized that perhaps it was not the case to continue on this path, and decided to change the name of their restaurant, apologizing because - they said - it was not their intention to offend anyone.

"At no time was it our intention to trivialize the mafia, offend the two anti-mafia magistrates Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino and the innocent victims of the mafia," reads a letter sent by the restaurant owners to the Italian embassy in Berlin.
