It was about 10 years since the Coca Cola it didn't remodel the look. Now the beverage giant is preparing to launch not just one new bottle, but it does so with a decidedly “green” style: in fact the bottle will be al 100% recycled.

Precisely, the new bottle of Coca Cola will be made with 100% recycled plastic material. The new recyclable bottle represents the latest move in Coca-Cola's multi-year initiative to reduce its plastic waste and will be available starting this month in selected northeastern states, including New York and Connecticut, as well as California and Florida, ahead of launching nationwide this summer.

With this very "green" choice, Coca-Cola hopes to attract the most "green" drinkers, that is to say young people under the age of at 25 years old, which, among other things, are the customers most attentive to the search for sustainable packaging (and sometimes for this very reason they even avoid the company). "We listened to consumers and they told us they want something a little smaller and a little easier to consume," he told CNN Business Alpa Sutaria, Coca-Cola's general manager of sustainability. "We took the opportunity to make a bottle with 100% recyclable plastic".

In fact, the size of the new bottle is 13.2 ounces, a size slightly larger than its aluminum can option and slightly smaller than the typical 20-ounce bottle. The new bottle will debut with the company's most famous drinks such as Coca-Cola, Diet Coke and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, at a suggested retail price of $ 1.59.

Sutaria added that the development of the new packaging was a "work of love and great innovation" for Coca-Cola. Recycled plastic comes clean, ground and made into grain-like flakes before being made into a new bottle. Coca-Cola has often been criticized for contributing to plastic waste harmful to the environment. Last year, the company was named the world's largest plastic polluter by the environmental company Break Free From Plastic. Its logos and branding have been found on 13,834 pieces of plastic in 51 countries, often discarded in public spaces such as parks and beaches.

In 2018, Coke announced its initiative " World Without Waste"With the ultimate goal, by 2030, to collect and recycle a bottle or can for each one that sells. The new bottle, according to Sutaria, is a “big step in that direction. We are determined to innovate and develop technology to minimize our impact,”he said, adding that the company“is following our commitment with concrete actions “.
