The factory Coca Cola of Gaglianico, in the Biellese area, will reopen its doors in 2021 eight years after its closure and after a year-long negotiation between the beverage giant and the Piedmont Region.
But for now there is almost total secrecy surrounding the story. "Very fruitful relations are underway with Coca Cola - explains the regional councilor for work Elena Chiorino -, at all levels. The operation was not advertised out of respect for a complex and delicate institutional work. As soon as there are official news, it will be communicated, in the interest of the territory, which has the right to know what important interventions are being carried out ".
Confirmations - as reported by La Repubblica - also come from Coca Cola press office which says: “Negotiations are underway but it is too early to say more. The possible entry into force of the “sugar tax” note would not help this investment. In addition to Coca Cola we are evaluating other types of possible productions. The Piedmontese site is of great importance as it is our property. And then in the Biellese and with the Biellese we have always worked well”.
However, a great economic commitment will also have to come from the Region, currently led by the governor Alberto Cirio: the plant in fact needs restructuring of millions of euros to be able to return to operation.
