Another mourning hit the Italian business sector: it is Antonio Rizzoli died, president of the Rizzoli Emanuelli, company of canned fish.

Antonio passed away a few days ago at the age of 83. He joined the company in 1958, following in the footsteps of Luigi, Aldo and Clelia Rizzoli, the children of the founders Emilio Zefirino, Antonietta and his brother Aldo Emanuelli (the company was founded in 1906). Later in 1987 he had assumed the office of president, but not before having received from his aunt Clelia the secret recipe for one of the company's best-known products, that of sauce for spicy anchovies.

It was Antonio Rizzoli's idea to create The Gourmet Escort: it is a case that contains a selection of the main specialties of the company, complete with a recipe book with proposals from the great chefs. The idea was so innovative for the time that in 1990 Cibus awarded it with the Oscar Aida for the most important innovations on the market.

Then, in 1996, Antonio obtained the Sant’Ilario award with an attached gold medal with this motivation: "At the helm of one of the oldest and most renowned Parmesan companies in the food sector, he has consolidated its prestigious tradition by relaunching and renewing it with a modern entrepreneurial spirit".

At the moment it seems that it has not yet been decided who will be the new president. However, the activities go on thanks to the son Massimo Rizzoli, currently general manager and his nephews Francesco Rizzoli and Raffaele Bianchi.
