Are you a greengrocer or a jeweler? How many times have we used this hyperbole to complain about the excessive prices of certain shops. But what here is just a saying, in Japan is literal: the youtuber and blogger Tommaso in Japan with a video on his Facebook page shows fruit and vegetables for sale at exorbitant prices, a melon netted to the equivalent of 130 euros and a bunch of grapes for the consideration in yen of 120 euros. But it also shows shops organized as jewelers, with selected goods of the highest quality, chosen fruit by fruit, clean, polished and packaged in deluxe packaging, which we are used to seeing here for precious items.

The video is shot in a shop Isetan, a Japanese chain that caters to a high target, treating everything as a luxury item, including food and among these also the kinds normally considered more affordable: such as fruit and vegetables. In addition to the superstar melon, the other fruit is no joke: a basket of mixed fruits is priced at 80 euros, a box of mandarins at 40, a single mango to 80. But the most spectacular thing are the packages of cherries, sold as boxes of good chocolates, each in its own special square: 15 cherries for 50 euros, but there is also a pack of two, and here they really look like jewels, two huge, perfect cherries, at a price of only 8 euros. Don't you want to go to Japan right away?
